Cocktail con rum

Many of the best cocktails are rum-based, just think of the very famous Mojito e Daiquiri, or al Cuba Libre, more simply called rum and cola. Why the rum is the basis of many internationally successful cocktails? Because the rum is a very versatile distillate which satisfies a wide range of tastes, it can be used for a cocktail party like Mojito or for more refined evenings like in the case of Daiquiri or Barracuda.



For the cocktail a base di rum you can use them dark rums o Bianchi, spicy or sweet, with the certainty of being able to successfully combine it with soft drinks such as coca cola, or with fruit and syrups. Another liqueur that gave birth to a series of cocktail with rum is Malibu, which already contains in its basic formula the rum paired with coconut and that lends itself to being served with a further dose of rum and fruit or simply served with fresh fruit.

Rum Cocktail – IBA

To put order at hundreds of rum cocktails prepared everywhere, it is necessary to contact the world's leading authority on cocktails, the IBA (International Bartenders Association), which in the indications for the preparation of the most famous cocktails establishes ingredients, preparation methods, suitable glasses and garnishes.



The IBA divides the types of cocktails into three categories and among them there are well 15 rum based cocktail rum. The subdivision examines rum cocktail conceived at the beginning of the 900th century, but also in some cases new conception cocktails or which have recently entered the Olympus of the gods cocktail a base di rum. Unforgettable Rum Cocktails

BACARDI

4.5 centiliters Bacardi White Rum, 2 centiliters of freshly squeezed lime juice, 1 centiliter Grenadine syrup. Pour the ingredients into the shaker and shake.


BETWEEN THE SHEETS

3 centiliters white rum, 3 centiliters Cognac, 3 centiliters Triple Sec, 2 centiliters fresh-squeezed lemon juice. Pour the ingredients into the shaker and shake.


15 – DAIQUIRI

4.5 centiliters White rum, 2.5 centiliters fresh lemon juice, 1.5 centiliters sugar syrup. Pour the ingredients into the shaker and shake.

16 – MARY PICKFORD

6 centiliters White rum, 1 centiliter Maraschino, 6 centiliters Pineapple juice, 1 centiliter Grenadine syrup. Pour the ingredients into the shaker and shake.

28 – PLANTER’S PUNCH

4.5 centiliters dark rum, 3.5 centiliters Fresh squeezed blonde orange juice, 3.5 centiliters pineapple juice, 2 centiliters fresh squeezed lemon juice, 1 centiliter grenadine syrup, 1 centiliter sugar syrup. Pour the ingredients into a shaker, shake and pour into a tumbler with ice. Add 3 or 4 sprays of Angostura bitter to the surface.

Contemporary classic rum cocktails

FREE CUBA

5 centiliters white rum, 12 centiliters cola, 1 centiliter fresh squeezed lime juice. It is prepared directly in the tumbler glass with ice. Garnish with a slice of lime. There is also a version of Cuba libre pounded, but which does not fall into the IBA categories.

HEMINGWAY SPECIAL

6 centiliters light rum, 4 centiliters yellow grapefruit juice, 1.5 centiliters Maraschino, 1.5 centiliters fresh-squeezed lime juice. Pour all the ingredients into a shaker and shake.


LONG ISLAND ICED TEA

1.5 centiliters Tequila, 1.5 centiliters Vodka, 1.5 centiliters White Rum, 1.5 centiliters Triple sec, 1.5 centiliters Gin, 2.5 centiliters freshly squeezed lemon juice, 3 centiliters Sugar syrup, 1 drop of cola. Add all the ingredients in a tall tumbler and mix.


May your

4 centiliters white rum, 2 centiliters dark rum, 1.5 centiliters Orange Curaçao, 1.5 centiliters barley syrup, 1 centiliter fresh squeezed lemon juice. Pour the ingredients into a shaker and shake.

MOJITO

4 centiliters Cuban white rum, 3 centiliters Fresh squeezed lime juice, 6 mint slices, 2 teaspoons of white cane sugar, Soda water. Gently crush the sugar, lime juice and mint with the pestle. Add the soda water and cracked ice, pour in the rum and top with the soda water.

Pina Colada

3 centiliters white rum, 9 centiliters pineapple juice, 3 centiliters coconut milk. Pour the ingredients into a blender with cracked ice. Blend for a minute. Pour into a very large glass. Garnish with a slice of pineapple and maraschino cherry.

Rum Cocktail of the new era

BARRACUDA 

4.5 centiliters Gold Rum, 1.5 centiliters Galliano, 6 centiliters pineapple juice, a squeeze of fresh lime. Fill with Prosecco. Pour the ingredients into the shaker with ice, leaving the Prosecco aside. Shake and pour into the cooled glass through the strainer. Add the top of bubbly to the finish and strain into a highball.

DARK ‘N’ STORMY

6 centiliters Dark Rum, 10 centiliters Ginger Beer (in the absence of ginger ale). Pour the dark rum into a tall tumbler with ice, add the ginger beer, garnish with a slice of lime.    

YELLOW BIRD

3 centiliters White rum, 1.5 centiliters Galliano, 1.5 centiliters Triple sec, 1.5 centiliters fresh squeezed lime juice. Pour the ingredients into a shaker and shake, pour into a cocktail glass.

ZOMBIE

4,5 centiliters of Puerto Rican or Cuban gold rum, 4,5 centiliters of Jamaican dark rum, 3 centiliters of overproof demerara rum, 2 centiliters of fresh lime juice, 1,5 centiliters of falernum, 1,5 centiliters of Don's mix, 1 drop of grenadine, a splash of Angostura bitters, 6 drops of Pernod. All the ingredients must be mixed in a blender on low speed.

Malibu rum cocktail

It is a category of cocktails that has as its first ingredient the Malibu, a very famous rum and coconut based liqueur. It is produced by the West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados, the country that boasts the first rum distillery in the world. To produce it, a white rum aged 2 years, coconut juice and sugar produced on the island. Thanks to the low alcohol content it has a great drinkability Malibu lends itself to the creation of refreshing cocktails with mango, pineapple, coconut, cola. It can be combined with the ingredients of classic IBA cocktails instead of pure rum, to create Mojto, Cuba Libre, Pina Colada of lower alcohol content and sweeter, or in addition to rum to create cocktails such as "Top of The View", for example. to which we explain the recipe:

3 centiliters of Malibu rum, 3 centiliters of dark Jamaican rum, 6 centiliters of Guayaba juice, 1 centiliter of grenadine, 3 centiliters of lemon juice, 6 centiliters of orange juice, 6 centiliters of pineapple juice, 1 slice orange, ice. Fill a shaker with ice cubes. Then add all the ingredients. Shake and strain into a glass with a wine stem previously filled with ice. Garnish with orange.
