History

Estrella Damm was founded in Barcelona, 1876, by two villagers: August Kuentzmann Damm and his wife Melanie. They founded the Sociedad Anónima Damm and opened a brewery where they produced their own beer, making it known as "the Mediterranean lager".

They marketed it as "Strasburger Bier", although the symbol, a five-pointed red star, would be what popularized it, to the point that people referred to it as "the one with the star" or "the star".

In 1905, after the growth in production, they opened a fárbica in the heart of the Eixample district of Barcelona. Two years later, the beer received international recognition at the fairs of Rome, London, Antwerp, Paris and Genoa.

In 1921 the first change of name took place, which was renamed "Estrella Dorada" (Golden Star).

In 1991 the beer stopped being called "Golden Star" to become "Star Damm ". At the level of corporate image, although it kept the gold for the five-pointed star, it recovered the red of the original star to become the corporate color of the brand.

Since then, the brand has not stopped growing and expanding all over the world as "the beer of the Mediterranean".
