The era in which this cocktail was born is unknown, what is known for sure is that it is one of the three so-called "Criminal cocktails" or "gangster cocktail" together with French Connection and Godmother. The name is a tribute to the leaders of the Italian-American mafia that marked the 30s in the United States. Many of them were owners of bars in which they conducted shady deals sipping whiskey and the very Italian amaretto. It is said that the actor Marlon Brando, the unforgettable protagonist of the film "The Godfather", in the original version "the Godfather" loved to sip this cocktail.

• Tumbler glass
• Spoon with long handle (bar spoon)
• Ice cubes

Ingredients for the Godfather Cocktail

• 7 cl of Scotch whiskey
• 3 cl of amaretto liqueur

How to make the Godfather drink

1. Get the low tumbler glass, a whiskey glass it will be fine. Fill it with ice cubes.
2. Add your favorite whiskey first, I highly recommend a scotch whiskey and not a bourbon or an irish, the scots aroma is really perfect combined with amaretto.
3. At this point add the liqueur.
4. Stir gently with the spoon and enjoy this excellent cocktail.

As mentioned above, the Godfather is an excellent cocktail to drink after dinner, it has an excellent digestive effect thanks to the amaretto and it is also an excellent meditation drink thanks to the high alcohol content. Nevertheless, it marries very well with several dessert with a strong flavor, especially those based on dark chocolate.
